IM and IT HR and Business Plan
Strategic research and planning is the foundation for integrating business and people management, as well as understanding the current and long term resourcing needs of departments, agencies, and the Public Service (PS) as a whole.
The ORO has developed the first ever draft IM and IT HR and Business Plan to identify key priority areas and form the basis of an action plan that identifies HR challenges across government and activities to be undertaken by the ORO and IM and IT Communities to mitigate these risks.
Current government-wide initiatives that support government transformation and will have a major impact on the IM and IT Communities include:
- Federal Accountability Act;
- HR Modernization;
- Public Service Renewal;
- IM and IT Shared Services; and
- Management Accountability Framework (MAF)
The ORO partnered with key stakeholders to establish a Steering Committee comprised of government Chief Information Officers (CIO's) and senior management, to ensure that an enterprise approach is used in planning and implementation efforts. The resulting plan follows the Canada Public Service Agency (CPSA) model for HR Planning.
The inaugural draft of the IM and IT HR and Business Plan identifies six key areas upon which to base an action plan:
- Infrastructure Classification
- Workplace Well-being
- Learning and Professional Development
- Labour Relations
- Employment Equity and Official Languages
- External Recruiting and Staffing
