To: Heads, Compensation and Labour Relations
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) has advised us of a change to membership dues, as a result of the signing of the new collective agreement. IBEW has requested that dues be deducted retroactively to September 1, 2007, the effective date of the new collective agreement. There was also an additional increase in the membership dues effective January 1, 2009.
The arrears deductions for the period of September 1, 2007 to January 31, 2009 will be collected automatically in February 2009.
The following chart includes the exact deduction amounts:
| Classification | Current Rate | New January Rate | February Deduction including all arrears |
|---|---|---|---|
| EL-1 | 61.64 | 63.55 | 88.69 |
| EL-2 | 71.85 | 74.14 | 104.32 |
| EL-3 | 78.45 | 81.00 | 114.66 |
| EL-4 | 83.12 | 85.84 | 121.72 |
| EL-5 | 90.87 | 93.90 | 133.92 |
| EL-6 | 99.10 | 102.44 | 146.60 |
| EL-7 | 106.97 | 110.61 | 158.61 |
| EL-8 | 114.00 | 117.91 | 169.45 |
| EL-9 | 121.63 | 125.84 | 181.46 |
These adjustments will be made automatically by bulk change. No departmental input will be required.
Please note that this new rate change applies to all employees in the bargaining unit designator (BUD) 40400 who are currently paying IBEW membership dues and are covered by a collective agreement between the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and the IBEW.
Departmental Compensation and Labour Relations managers should direct any questions to their appropriate corporate officials who, if need be, can contact the Pay Administration Section.
May I remind you that should there be any concerns with the arrears deduction, or any other inquiries regarding this membership dues change, employees are to be directed to IBEW.
