3.1 Financial Highlights

Total assets were $1.2 million at the end of 2008-09, an increase $0.1 million (4 percent) over the previous year's total assets of $1.1 million. Tangible capital assets (i.e. Informatics software & hardware) comprised of 88 percent of total assets at $1.0 million.

Total liabilities were $6.9 million at the end of 2008-09, an increase of $1.2 million (21 percent) over the previous year's total liabilities of $5.7 million. These liabilities represent employee severance benefits ($3.7 millions), accounts payable ($2.4 million) and vacation pay & compensatory benefits ($0.8 million).

Total expenses for CHRC were $26.3 million in 2008-09. The majority of funds, $13.4 million or 51 percent, were spent in Human Rights Dispute Resolution Program; while the balance of funds were spent in Discrimination Prevention Program ($7.8 million or 30 percent) and in Human Rights Knowledge Development Program ($5.1 million or 19 percent).
