Simplified access to government services for businesses
Time is money for businesses, which is why many are asking for faster access and less administrative effort when it comes to submitting records like employment information or searching for resources to help them grow. We’re streamlining all of these areas to better meet the needs of Canadian businesses.
One number to be known by
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) assigns businesses a nine-digit business number (BN). This number will become the standard for business interactions by April 1, 2020, enabling the aggregation of business data and delivery of more streamlined, personalized and efficient service to clients across all government departments. Aside from improving access to tax services, benefits, and refunds, clients will be able to easily access grants, hiring programs and business advice.
Faster search for programs and services
Canadian businesses can now find government programs and services that meet their needs using an online tool hosted by Innovation Canada. The tool asks questions about businesses’ needs — from funding, loans and capital investments to wage subsidies and interns — and lists any available resources that match. We plan to expand and improve this service over time to make it more useful for businesses.
Simpler employment submissions
We’re working with key stakeholders to identify opportunities to bundle services and streamline reporting requirements for businesses.
