Transfer of the Treasury Board Policy on Hospitality

Date:

To: Senior Financial Officers and Senior Full-time Financial Officers

c.c.:  Richard Burton, Vice President, HRMMB

Effective , responsibility for the current Treasury Board Policy on Hospitality was transferred from the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada to the Office of the Comptroller General (OCG) within the Treasury Board Secretariat.

The policy remains applicable to all departments and agencies listed in Schedules I, I.1 and II of the Financial Administration Act, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Canadian Armed Forces.  It does not cover hospitality governed by the "Foreign Service Hospitality Directive" and the "Heads of Posts Directive".

The day-to-day application of the policy will not change and departments should continue to direct their inquiries to the corporate policy division within their departmental headquarters.  However, for interpretations of the Treasury Board Policy on Hospitality, policy divisions should now direct their inquiries to the OCG, as indicated below.

Over the next year, the OCG will consider the possible renewal of the Treasury Board Policy on Hospitality and its incorporation into the new Suite of Financial Management Policy Instruments.  Future developments in this regard will be communicated to Senior Financial Officers and Senior Full-time Financial Officers when they become available.

Should you require additional information regarding the details of this transfer, or for interpretation of the current Treasury Board Policy on Hospitality, please direct all inquiries to Jeff Wilson of the Financial Management Policy Division at (613) 954-3692 or by e-mail at (Wilson.JeffC@tbs-sct.gc.ca).
