Changes to the Leave Reporting System

The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information regarding new codes being introduced in the Leave Reporting System.

According to the provisions of Appendix A of the Directive on Leave and Special Working Arrangements, employees are allowed up to half a day of paid time off to attend their own personal medical and dental appointments for routine, periodic check-ups. A code has been introduced in the Leave Reporting System that will be used for tracking purposes only. Employees' leave credits will not be affected, as this is not leave, but time off with pay. Note that code 699 is not to be used for this purpose. Details follow:

Code 698 – Medical and Dental Appointments

(This code is not mandatory. Do not include in the Leave Reporting System).

As well, a code has been created to track routine medical appointments for pregnant employees. Under the provisions of relevant collective agreements, a pregnant employee will be granted up to 3.75 or 4 hours (as appropriate) of reasonable time off with pay for the purpose of attending routine medical appointments relating to the pregnancy.
